Press Releases - 2021December 2021 RI single-family home sales fall from a year ago but remain strongWarwick, R.I. – December 15, 2021 -- The median price of single-family homes sold in Rhode Island last month climbed 16.1 percent from 12 months earlier, to $375,000. Sales activity however, continued to fall for the fifth consecutive month. The number of closings fell by 8.2 percent, though those put under contract but not closed in November, rose 2.7 percent, an indication that future closing activity should increase. Full Story October 2021 Realtors release September and 3rd quarter salesWarwick, RI – October 20, 2021 -- Residential property prices in Rhode Island continued to escalate in the third quarter, though the first signs of a slowing housing market became apparent. Data released today by the Rhode Island Association of Realtors showed that at $385,000, the median price of single-family homes sold from July through September was 15 percent higher than that of the third quarter of 2020 and reached an all-time quarterly high. Accompanying that price increase, however, was an 8.4 percent slowdown in closed sales from the previous year. Full Story September 2021 R.I. home prices continue to climb, sales of single-family homes slowWarwick, R.I. – September 16, 2021 --The median price of single-family homes sold in Rhode Island reached a new peak last month, according to data recently released by the Rhode Island Association of Realtors. At $390,000, the median sales price rose 17.1 percent from 12 months earlier and 1.6 percent from the previous month. Prices have not fallen from the prior year since January 2017. Out-of-state buyers of single-family homes, multifamily homes and condominiums during April through June increased 69 percent from the same period last year. At $385,000, June’s median sales price of single-family homes represents a 24.6 percent gain since June of last year and a 5.5 percent gain from the previous month. With just 1192 single-family homes on the market in Rhode Island, the current inventory is approximately 25 percent less than the previous monthly record low of 1594 in the spring of 2002. While still up over last year, the year-over-year increase in single-family home sales fell to just two percent in February, compared to a seven percent increase in January and a more than 20 percent gain in the months of September through December 2020.
