Dean deTonnacourt Named 2014 Rhode Island REALTOR® of the YearWarwick, RI, October 28, 2014…The Rhode Island Association of Realtors (RIAR) has announced that Dean deTonnancourt of West Warwick, Rhode Island, has been chosen by his peers as the 2014 Rhode Island Realtor of the Year. He is the Principal Broker of HomeSmart Professionals Real Estate in Warwick. The award recognizes one of more than 4000 Realtors throughout Rhode Island for their dedication to the Realtor organization and their local communities. Winners are chosen based on their demonstrated commitment to their local, state and national board of Realtors and their civic and charitable contributions. A member of the Realtor organization since 1990, Dean has given years of service to the Realtor community. Among his many contributions, he is a past President of the Kent Washington Association of Realtors and has served on the Boards of Directors of the Kent Washington Association of Realtors, the Rhode Island Association of Realtors and State-Wide Multiple Listing Service. He is a past chair of the Realtors Political Action Committee, and was a Federal Political Coordinator for the National Association of Realtors to U.S. Representative David Cicilline. A popular instructor in classes on Agency, Ethics and Negotiations, he is a two-time winner of the Kent Washington Association of Realtors Realtor of the Year Award. He is also the recipient of the 2005 Richard L. Phipps Distinguished Service Award, given to a REALTOR® member for outstanding and unselfish dedication of time, talent and energy to the members of the Association. Dean remains as active in his local community as he is in the Realtor realm, serving as a 21-year member and Chairperson on the West Warwick Board of Assessment and Review, a committee member for the Coventry Housing Authority Family Self-Sufficiency Program, and as an instructor for the Coventry and Narragansett Housing Authorities’ Home Purchase Program. In that capacity, he instructs program members on the benefits of home ownership and the process of purchasing a home. He is a past Vice President for AIDS Care Ocean State and was the organization’s Development Committee Chair for six years. Dean was one of five nominees for Rhode Island Realtor of the Year, each of whom won the Realtor of the Year award at their local board level. The other candidates were Linda Delach of the Northern Rhode Island Board of Realtors, Jamie Moore of the Rhode Island Commercial and Appraisal Board of Realtors, Chad Kritzas of the Newport County Board of Realtors and Mindy Lane of the Kent Washington Association of Realtors.
